I'm back! I know you missed me.
Monday was the day of the Actor's Equity Young Member's meeting. The one at which Sir Ian McKellan spoke. I can repeat it. SIR IAN MCKELLAN (holy crap holy crap... eeeeeeee!) spoke at said meeting.
The day of the meeting I got up early. I sure didn't want to be late for the 11:00 am meeting. It was raining and pretty disgusting outside as it had been the day before. But NOTHING could dampen my spirits. I got over to the Guild House only to be informed that I was a tad early.... 7 hours early. The meeting was set for 6:00pm. Don't ask. I have no idea how I messed that one up. In any event, I left and came back.
The meeting was fascinating. Sir Ian spoke of when he first got his Equity Card and how it made him feel professional. The card made him feel like an actor. He also talked about pride in being a professional actor. It was a very lovely speech. OH yes, I was within a yard of the man. The room was tiny and I was on the front row. I did not get to speak personally to him, but I didn't expect to. That would have been a disaster for him to allow everyone in that room to have personal word with him. We would have all been there until 3 in the morning at the earliest.
The day before was the Equity Party. As I mentioned earlier, it was also raining on this day. Golly Gee if my hair can't get a break. I went to two very fancy functions with hair that resembled a lion's mane.

That is my lion's mane and also the balloon bracelet that was made for me at the Equity Meeting. Nick was my date for the party. I like to keep him around because he is better with people than I am. Oh yea, and I kinda like him. At the party we met the host, Andrew. It was cool to meet him because I have been in e-mail contact with him for quite some time talking about workshops and such. It is always cool to put a face to an e-mail. :---D There were some pretty cool MT girls at the party as well and we talked with them for a while about dancing and their school and such.
Within the last week, I began (and finished) applying for The Royal Academy of Music. If I am accepted it would be a 1 year postgraduate degree in Musical Theatre. which would be quite exciting. October 2nd is the open day to go see the campus. So... I'll let you know. :-D
Earlier in the week. I'm sorry, I don't know what day. Helen invited Nick and myself out to the British Museum. We walked through the awesome rain and eventually found the British Museum. It was quite a search, much like being a Pilgrim, but in reverse.
The exhibit was pretty cool. We watched some people from the RSC perform poems about London (and some songs) and then we some some Frivolity in the "square."

Ok. So it wasn't as frivolous as expected. In fact, it was darn near serious. The amount of glaring coming from the guys was astounding. All in all it was a pretty fun evening. Also- I mentioned Helen as if everyone reading this blog knows who she is. Well, out of respect for her privacy I won't give you her social security number. But I will tell you she is a pretty cool friend of Nick's who is from this side of the pond. :)
Alrighty. That is enough for one episode.
Next blog:
1. Visits with Molly Hood (That got delayed from this episode... you'll survive. I hope)
2. A visit to the Royal Academy of Music
3. More dance classes and master classes.
4. Frivolity
